Ginza Six:
A Luxury Shopping Destination for Food, Art, and Design
April 20, 2025
Ginza Six, one of Ginza’s most iconic shopping complexes, offers a luxurious yet welcoming space for shopping, relaxing, and discovering unique experiences. It’s a popular destination for both locals and tourists, blending high-end retail with cultural richness. As you enter, you're immediately greeted by the striking Big Cat Bang art installation by Kenji Yanobe, suspended from the ceiling—a visual cue that this is no ordinary mall.
Here are some of our favorite stops inside Ginza Six.
Where to Find the Best Matcha in Ginza Six
If your Japan trip doesn’t include Kyoto or Uji, don’t worry—Tokyo has incredible matcha options too. One of our top picks is Nakamura Tokichi, located on the 4th floor. This famous shop originated in Uji, the matcha capital of Japan. While the in-dining seating is limited and wait times can be long (there’s no reservation system), you can still enjoy a curated selection of take-home matcha treats at their shop front.
We tried the matcha jelly and while the jelly itself is good, we were even more impressed by the anko (sweet red bean paste) and shiratama (chewy rice flour dumplings) layered inside—it’s a perfect balance of texture and flavor.
Our favorite, however, is the ocha no tane (matcha pecan)—a beautifully packaged snack with a bold matcha flavor and satisfying crunch. The only downside is its short shelf life (about a week), so if you’re planning to give it as omiyage, buy it near the end of your trip.

Unique Interior Goods at Cibone Case
Also on the 4th floor is Cibone Case, a concept store and offshoot of the Harajuku-based Cibone. The shop features a constantly rotating selection of eclectic home goods and curated collaborations. One standout? Bread-shaped lamps by artist Yukiko Morita—real, unsold loaves turned into ambient lighting. Even if you’re not planning to buy, this is a fun place to browse.
Books, Coffee, and Dining on the 6th Floor
Head up to the 6th floor for a change of pace. Whether you’re craving a meal at Eataly or Itamae Sushi, or a relaxing break with coffee at Starbucks inside Tsutaya Books, this is a cozy corner to recharge. The bookstore is visually stunning and filled with books, magazines, art, and stylish goods. It’s one of our favorite spots for a mid-shopping reset.
Discover Rare Whiskeys and Mikan Beer on the B2 Gourmet Floor
Before you leave, don’t skip B2—the food floor filled with luxurious snacks, omiyage options, and artisanal alcohol. For something unique, try 10Factory’s mikan beer, made from Ehime citrus and produced in collaboration with local growers. If whiskey is more your style, check out J.W.C. Library, a whiskey-tasting bar offering rare options like aged Yamazaki. If you find a favorite, you can (hopefully) pick it up next door at Jule’s Whiskey Collection.
